Meet the presenters
Charles J. Ouda
Charles Ouda has participated in numerous drama productions since his school years at St. Mary's School Nairobi. Since 2003 he has acted professionally in numerous stage plays and musicals - including the part of Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's hit Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat among other lead roles.Meanwhile he's also become a familiar face on TV, acting in all 8 seasons of Mediae Company's Makutano Junction where he plays Philip "PP" Baraka. Elsewhere he's also starred as Gitau "Tash" Maina in the two seasons of KTN's Better Days.
Charles joined the Mediae Company's writing staff in 2007, becoming at age 21 the youngest writer on the 5th and 6th seasons of Makutano Junction. Since then, he has also written for Junction Juniors and has become co-presenter of KnowZone.
Charles has always loved arts, watching movies, acting, dancing and is a big fan of rugby.
Emily Wanja
Emily Wanja is a well-known Kenyan stage and screen actress and she is a drama editor too. She has worked in numerous shows and projects and has had a lead role in Makutano Junction since series 1, both as an actress playing Red Mulani, and as a video editor. In addition Emily also presents KnowZone and works on the series as an editor.She loves life, adventure, reading, networking and dancing.
Jack Omondi presenting as Marara
Jack Omondi is a Kenyan born puppeteer, who has created, designed and performed with different types puppets for over 14 years. During this time he's been able to work with world-famous puppeteers such as Gary Friedman of South Africa/ Australia, Mag'isch Theater from Holland and Gregory Shwank of Germany. As a director/performer, with his partner they have produced numerous educational and entertaining puppetry productions like "The Bite", which focused mainly on effects of corruption on the community, "Jumbe" which dealt with drug abuse among the youth. Two of his most recent productions are "Man of Stone" which was showcased in the Kenya international puppetry festival in 2006 and "Kuna Vile" which was a multi disciplinary media production bringing together artists of different backgrounds to fuse their genres of art with puppetry.He has several works in progress with a renowned Kenyan contemporary dance artist. He is currently working with his partner as puppeteers/community/media and theater consultants. They are at the same time working on a production that will excite the Kenyan audience on the use of puppetry.
Damaris Irungu presenting as Teacher Pendo
26 year old Damaris Irungu, is a self confessed jack of all trades. She started off in radio as a reporter at Kiss FM then moved to YFM 96 as a presenter and promotions coordinator. Thereafter, she joined the popular TV Drama series Makutano Junction as an actor playing the role of Teacher Pendo. She also became a writer for the show a season later.Damaris also joined the KnowZone team as Teacher Pendo. She enjoys teaching the children mathematics and English.
Besides writing and acting for TV, she is a features writer for the popular Saturday Magazine - a pull-out in the Nation newspaper - and the marketing society of Kenya's Sokoni Magazine.
When she is not writing or acting, she enjoys playing table tennis, reading or watching some great TV.
